Transitional Kindergarten & Preschool
Gaines Elementary is proud to offer Preschool (Early Childhood Education) and Transitional Kindergarten (TK). These programs give children a strong start in school through play, exploration, and early learning.
Program Overview
- Preschool: For 3- and 4-year-olds. Children must be 3 or 4 by district cutoff dates. Families may qualify for free or reduced cost based on income or other needs.
- TK: For children who turn 5 between September 2 and June 2 of the school year. TK is the first year of a two-year Kindergarten program.
Hours
- Preschool: AM 7:50–10:50 a.m. / PM 12:00–3:00 p.m. (Gaines sessions: 8:30–11:30 a.m. and 12:15–3:15 p.m.)
- TK:
Enrollment
- Preschool: Apply through the District’s Early Childhood Education Office. Families provide proof of age, residency, and (if needed) income information.
- TK: Register at your home school during the District’s TK/Kindergarten registration period, starting mid-January.
