Volunteer Opportunities

At Gaines, we value the support and involvement of our families and community members. Volunteer assistance in schools can enrich the educational program, increase supervision of students, and contribute to school safety while strengthening the schools’ relationships with the community. Parents and other members of the community are encouraged to share their time, knowledge, and abilities with students. Volunteers must act in accordance with District policies, regulations, and school rules. Volunteers may not bring siblings and other younger children, who are not enrolled in school, into the classrooms. 

In order to volunteer at school, individuals must complete the Volunteer Request Form on the PUSD website and follow the guidelines from Personnel Services. 

The district volunteer process includes: 

  • Fingerprinting 

  • TB Test 

  • Online Mandated Reporter Training. 

  • Once you complete the volunteer process, it is valid until your child graduates from 12th grade 

  • We rely on parent volunteers to help make field trips, school events, and extracurricular activities possible. Your support is greatly appreciated and encouraged!
